How to Update or Uninstall TinyTask Pro Cleanly

Automation files are often more valuable than the program package itself, because they contain the steps you refined. A clean update protects those workflows and avoids mixing files from two releases.

Quick answer

Back up your saved macro files first, identify whether you used an installer or extracted package, then update through the matching process. Test the new version before deleting the previous working copy.

Do not delete folders until you know where your macros and settings are stored.

01

Back up macros and settings

Locate every saved TinyTask Pro macro, described in current guides as JSON files. Copy them to a clearly named backup folder outside the application directory. Include the current TinyTask Pro version and backup date in the folder name.

If the interface offers an export or settings backup, use it as well. Open one copied file from the backup location to confirm the copy is readable.

02

Identify how TinyTask Pro was installed

Check Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps for TinyTask Pro. If it appears with an uninstall option, you likely used an installer. If you manually extracted a ZIP and launched the program from a folder, you have a manually managed package.

Note Do not mix these methods. Installing over an extracted copy can leave two shortcuts pointing at different versions.
03

Update an installed edition

  1. Close TinyTask Pro and active macros.
  2. Back up workflows.
  3. Download the new installer from the official archive.
  4. Verify its filename and hash.
  5. Follow the documented upgrade or uninstall/reinstall path.
  6. Launch the new version and run a harmless test.

If the installer offers to preserve settings, still keep the independent backup.

04

Update a portable or ZIP package

Extract the new release into a new folder rather than directly over the old one. Copy only documented user data — such as macro files — after testing. This avoids retaining obsolete application libraries.

Keep the previous folder temporarily, clearly labeled as old. Once important workflows pass in the new release, archive or remove it according to your organization’s retention policy.

05

Uninstall without losing work

For an installed edition, use Windows Settings or the developer’s uninstaller. For a manually managed package, close the program and remove its application folder only after confirming that no macro backups live inside it.

Search your own chosen macro locations and shortcuts; do not recursively delete broad folders. Empty the Recycle Bin only after verifying the backup.

06

Post-update test checklist

  • Confirm the version displayed by the app.
  • Create and replay a new one-action macro.
  • Test ESC emergency stop.
  • Open a copy of an older saved macro.
  • Test hotkeys, loop count and playback speed.
  • Verify display scaling and target-app permissions.
Record any incompatibility and keep the old release until it is resolved. The changelog should explain known upgrade issues.

Frequently asked questions

Will uninstalling TinyTask Pro delete my macros?

It depends on where they were saved and what the uninstaller removes. Back them up independently before uninstalling.

Can I install a new version over a portable folder?

A separate clean folder is safer because it prevents obsolete files from being mixed into the new package.

When can I delete the previous version?

After the new release passes fresh and saved-macro tests and your backups are verified.
